happy (almost!) birthday! Cherish those last 10 minutes of childhood :)

I have not drawn, painted or done anything remotely creative since summer started, since after I finished painting that large Yo-Yo Ma head on the wall of my high school hallway. This is problematic. I need to find some paper, pens and inspiration and fix this.

It feels good to be back :). I’ve missed my friends, my bed, the lack of mosquitoes, the perfect weather. But soon, I’m sure I’ll miss the excitement of Shanghai, where a metro card could take me anywhere, and the laziness of Phuket, where my biggest daily worry was whether to doze in this beachfront hammock or that.

Plane rides since April: 6

Date of next plane ride: August 21

This leaves me less than one month until I leave home for good. Crazy, isn’t it?

The Chinese people will not get to see Transformers, nor the eagerly awaited new Harry Potter movie, nor any other Hollywood production. At least not yet. Gao Jun, the deputy general manager of Beijing’s New Film Association, explained that no foreign movie would be allowed into China until the Chinese film Beginning of the Great Revival made 800 million yuan, or $124 million, which would be an all-time record for a Chinese movie.

The flood of harry potter related posts on my dashboard is making me very impatient. I need to fly into an hp approved country, find some ravenclaw gear (I’ve always liked ravenclaw. Plus, I am a ravenclaw. The YDN says so), and enjoy the final installment of my and every 90s kid’s childhood.

Semiconsciously ambling through Thailand in a food induced comatose state with a happy feeling in my stomach. Yummy food + beach front views/elephant shows/fire performers = :) me.

Reality check: This amount of food cannot possibly be good for my waistband.
